Oakes’ Clinical Training Program Philosophy and Goals
For over 50 years, Oakes Children’s Center has served children and families with emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties by providing specialized educational and psychological services. Our mission is to help children develop the independence and self-awareness necessary to live and continue learning in the least restrictive setting possible. Oakes Children’s Center is a non-profit mental health center located in San Francisco’s Mission District with the objective of providing services to ethnic minorities and individuals from lower socioeconomic status that may not otherwise receive mental health services. The training program is a crucial part of helping us in this mission. Every year we accept and train advanced practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral clinicians. For more information regarding specific positions, please see separate sections below or on menu for each of the training programs.
