Program Services
School
We provide a very high teacher-to-student ratio and complete educational services, including: individualized curriculum planning, speech and language therapy, computer training, life skills, specialized reading instruction and swimming.

Day Treatment
We provide extensive mental health services to enable children to succeed in the least restrictive setting possible. Our mental health services include individual therapy, play therapy, family therapy & support, creative arts therapy, crisis intervention and psychological assessment. Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 2:10pm.

Out-Patient Clinic
We serve developmentally delayed and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, including graduates of the Oakes day treatment program, whose special needs cannot be met elsewhere. We also provide parent support through our out-patient clinic.

Partnership Program
We work within the public schools to give special education students, their families and their teachers the support they need to succeed. Therapists work with students individually and in groups as well as provide consultation to teachers and families. This collaborative program helps children keep learning in a mainstream setting.

Group Therapy Program
We offer socialization groups for children with pervasive developmental disorders. The groups focus on peer relations, development of interests and age appropriate behaviors. Children ranging in age from 5 to 18 come to Oakes from public schools across the city.

After School Program
We provide a safe, therapeutically focused recreation program for children who do not fit in regular community after school programs. The after school program is a crucial resource for working parents as well as an important component of the children's mental health treatment. Currently, this program is limited to serving students in the Oakes day treatment program, but hope to expand the Program to serve more children.

Training Programs
We train tomorrow's mental health and teaching professionals to best meet the needs of developmentally delayed and emotionally disturbed children and their families. We provide extensive training through seminars, hands-on experience and professional supervision to graduate and undergraduate students from several San Francisco area universities and professional schools.
